Teaching philosophy and student research
"My classroom lectures incorporate both my own research in the Arctic as well as student-produced videos of their archaeological fieldwork, 你可以在我们的 宾州州立大学阿宾顿分校 Anthropology video site. History, archaeology and anthropology of exploration, esp. American and Scandinavian polar exploration and technology; experimental archaeology; aerospace archaeology; historical and archaeological research of sites from polar, aeronautical and space exploration; Arctic/Sub-Arctic (Svalbard, 弗朗茨约瑟夫兰, 纽芬兰, Norway).
2016年，我发表了 the first history of the American exploration of 弗朗茨约瑟夫兰. This followed my publication in 2013 of the first biography of the British explorer Benjamin Leigh Smith.
